Celebrating our Core Values

The Wenatchee Church of the Nazarene is a community of people who are devoted to “making Christ-like disciples in Wenatchee who grow in faith, hope and love.”  In doing so, we live by certain values that frame our words and actions directed to ALL people.

 

WE ARE A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY

Our actions and attitudes are guided by the teachings and provisions of Jesus Christ and we continually look to Him for instruction.  We believe that Jesus teaches us what it means to live fully alive in God in the here and now.  We have been forgiven, so we forgive.  We have been loved, so we love.  We have been given hope, so we extend hope. We have received the gift of Jesus, our Savior, so we present that gift to others.  We are a Christian community.

 

WE ARE A HOLY COMMUNITY

God, who is holy, calls us to a life of holiness.  We believe that the Holy Spirit seeks to cleanse us from all sin and to renew us in the image of God.  Through this, we are empowered to love God with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, and our neighbors as ourselves.  We most clearly understand holiness as the occasion and process by which we become more like Christ.  We are a holy community.

 

WE ARE A MISSIONAL COMMUNITY

Our life of God is not just for us.  We believe that the blessing of love, grace and hope in which we live should be extended to all people, around the world and across the street.  Because we are followers of Christ who taught us to be servants of ALL, we endeavor to identify and meet the needs of those around us with the heart of a servant.  Our faith, hope and love are expressed by not only the words we speak but the work of our hands.  As people are witnesses of this life in us, they are drawn to Jesus Christ.  We are a missional community.
